American Petroleum Institute
For more than 90 years, the American Petroleum Institute (API) has led the development of petroleum, natural gas and petrochemical standards; Walker family members have been involved in activities of the Committee on Petroleum Measurement (COPM) for more than 70 years. The group meets twice a year to share their collective wisdom and write standards for the industry. There are many subcommittees under the COPM. The picture is a caricature of the Committee on Measurement Quality (COMQ) painted by commitee member Anne Walker Brackett. The agenda seen is a small indication of the many standards worked on by this group. Most of these center on the determination of the properties of liquid hydrocarbons in order to determine quality and quantity. The meetings are in March and October every year. Please come to the API meetings as they are a vital part of our industry.
