A Century of Standards Leadership in Oil & Gas Measurement

For three generations, the Walker family has been deeply engaged in the standards bodies that define accurate, reliable petroleum measurement. From manual tank gauging to custody transfer, our ongoing work within API MPMS, COPM, and ASTM helps set the bar for how the world measures hydrocarbons—safely, consistently, and traceably.

Why Standards Matter

We bring laboratory precision to the field, reducing measurement uncertainty, ensuring fair and auditable custody transfer, and safeguarding data integrity across the supply chain.

Our Family’s Service & Leadership

Arthur L. Walker — API Involvement (1950s–1980s)

Details to be added. Arthur L. Walker’s early participation helped establish the Walker family’s legacy in petroleum measurement standards.

Anne Walker Brackett — 40+ years of direct committee involvement (1982–2024)

  • Former Chair, API MPMS Chapter 7 (Temperature Determination) — held the position for over 20 years
  • Active contributor across COMQ and COLM
  • Broad participation in ASTM petroleum measurement standards

John Brackett — 10+ years of measurement standards service (2013–present)

  • Member of COLM and COMQ
  • Vice Chair, Chapter 10 (Density & Relative Density)
  • Contributor to Chapter 9 (Density Determination) and Chapter 7 (Temperature Determination)
  • Chair, Chapter 7.1 (Field Temperature Measurement)
  • Active collaborator in ASTM measurement work

Standards We Touch Most

  • API MPMS Chapter 7: Temperature determination (manual and digital field practice, corrections, traceability)
  • API MPMS Chapters 9 & 10: Density/relative density and hydrometer methods for custody transfer calculations
  • COMQ & COLM: Measurement quality systems and liquid measurement best practices
  • ASTM Methods: Complementary test methods that support lab-to-field correlation

Our Ongoing Commitment

Standards evolve—and so do we. As fluids, instruments, and data systems advance, Walker remains at the table—drafting, reviewing, and influencing—to keep your measurement reliable, defensible, and future-ready.
